A new legislation passed by the Parliament to establish the Trade Support Loans Scheme was welcomed by Master Builders Australia .

Describing the new scheme as good policy and beneficial for apprentices, Master Builders CEO Wilhelm Harnisch said that the bipartisan support received for the legislation in Parliament was an encouraging sign.

The loan scheme is expected to provide support to apprentices, helping them complete their qualification, particularly in the first year of their apprenticeship.

Observing how recruitment and retention of building trade apprentices have been a key challenge for the industry in recent years even with rising youth unemployment, Wilhelm Harnisch believes the Trade Support Loans Scheme will help provide an improved pathway to a rewarding career in the building and construction industry and facilitate the creation of a skilled workforce to meet future demand.
