Fabric structures from MakMax Australia are being installed at the new Queensland State Velodrome, being readied for the 2018 Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast.

Awarded the contract to design and construct the fabric roof and walls for the new Queensland State Velodrome, MakMax Australia is working with Watpac Constructions to install a total of 11,000 square metres of fabric, with completion scheduled for late 2016.

MakMax has carefully chosen the roofing fabric to optimise lighting conditions for cyclists and spectators with a textured fabric selected for the walls to give visual relief to the arena.

According to Richard Coulson - Project Director Velodrome, Cox Architecture, the most interesting thing about the building is that it will have a membrane roof and membrane walls.

MakMax Australia Managing Director Mike Lester said the company was proud to be chosen once again to work with design innovators and construction leaders to deliver world-class fabric structure designs.

MakMax specialises in creating visually stunning structures in the form of fabric roofing, car park shades, umbrellas, facades and fabric interiors for use in the sporting, education, commercial/retail, transport, industrial and hospitality industries.
