The 8th Making Cities Liveable Conference will be held in July 2015 in Melbourne, the most liveable city in the world.

Professionals in the public and private sector can explore new initiatives, exchange ideas and network with industry peers at the 8th Making Cities Liveable Conference. Opportunities are available to present in a concurrent stream or panel session, share case studies, run workshops or present a poster. The Call for Abstracts is now open and submissions are being accepted on the conference website.

Australians enjoy some of the most liveable cities in the world. However the future and liveability of these cities face a number of challenges in the next 10 years. The conference will provide a platform for delegates and speakers to discuss multiple issues including increasing populations, affordable and adequate housing, transport and mobility, job disbursement, resource management, public health, and planning for an ageing population.

The conference program will include an extensive range of topics with Keynotes, Concurrent Sessions, Case Studies, Workshops and Posters.

Program topics include: Planning for liveable, active and healthy cities; Public health and planning collaboration; Creating aged friendly communities; Impact of density and growing populations; Public space and sharing space; Smart cities: age of analytics and technology; Key to sustainable transport; City and regional pressures: food, energy and water; Regional cities: the future plans for smaller centres; International cities and sister cities: what we can learn – what are the outcomes; Sustainable frameworks: communities, facilities, cities; Universal design: urban housing that works for everybody; New urbanism: emerging approaches to design and planning; Future of work: co-working labs and dispersing jobs; Working with councils: legislation and policies; Urban agriculture; Creative cities - knowledge cities; Building tolerance and resilience; and Leadership in sustainability.

The Conference is an initiative of the not-for-profit organisation, the Association for Sustainability in Business Inc.

The Safe Cities Conference 2015 will be held in conjunction with the 8th Making Cities Liveable Conference on Wednesday 8 July 2015 at Hilton on the Park, Melbourne. A one-day conference about creating cities that are safe places to live, work, play, visit and study, the Safe Cities Conference brings together leading practitioners to discuss the challenges of designing and planning safer communities, crime prevention, industry and community consultation.
