Lysaght ENSEAM was the cladding of choice for the new Broken Hill Community Health Centre during a major redevelopment project. Lysaght ENSEAM met both functional and aesthetic objectives sought by Hutchinson Builders for the remote area project.

A leading rural referral centre, Broken Hill Health Service provides a range of vital inpatient and outpatient services for numerous residents across far-west NSW. The $30-million redevelopment project involved the upgrade of Broken Hill Hospital and construction of a new integrated Community Health Centre including a five-chair dental health facility; child, family and community health services; new staff office accommodation; and the reconfiguration of the hospital's ambulatory care wing to expand cancer care services and consolidate patient waiting areas.

Given the remoteness of the region, the Toowoomba-based Hutchinson Builders chose a modular construction solution that delivered cost and time savings as well as convenience. The construction company has proven experience in modular-style builds with many other projects including a hospital in Alpha in Central West Queensland.

For the new Broken Hill Community Health Centre, Hutchinson built the required structures in modular form at their Toowoomba fabrication yards, where they were assembled in 42 modules and transported via 42 semi-trailer loads to Broken Hill for reassembly on site, followed by internal fitout and roofing installation.

Lysaght worked with the builders to install the cost-effective ENSEAM cladding from their exciting ZENITH range of premium architectural profiles in COLORBOND steel colours Wallaby and Woodland Grey. Lysaght ENSEAM wall cladding, a highly popular profile from the Lysaght ZENITH range, was selected for the Health Centre to deliver a visually appealing as well as functional outcome.

The brief for the project sought a cladding that was architecturally striking and also ready for use with the modular construction methodology. In discussing the product supply, the Lysaght team put forward ENSEAM cladding as an alternative solution.

"Lysaght ENSEAM cladding delivers a bold rib and visual, has ease of install and is backed by Lysaght's comprehensive testing to Australian Standards," Lysaght's Toowoomba branch manager Hayley Eccles explained.

"It was therefore an easy decision for Hutchinson's to propose ENSEAM cladding to the project specification team. Likewise, the project specification team saw the benefit that Lysaght ENSEAM offered and confirmed its selection in the specification as a result.

"For Hutchinson Builders on this project, as with every Lysaght customer, our goal is always to deliver the most cost-effective and suitable solution to meet their needs."
