Architectural products from Locker Group will be playing an important role in the upcoming Montario Quarter project in Perth.

The Montario Quarter project involves the redevelopment of the old Shenton Park Hospital site in Perth by LandCorp. Improved urban planning is a key driver for the project, which will see the construction of 1,100 new apartments and houses, in addition to a shopping village and a significant amount of public park space on 15.8 hectares of land.

LandCorp Chief Executive Frank Marra explains that the development goals are aligned with the unique natural and historic features of the area. Over 25 per cent of the land has been set aside for open public spaces, which will include an urban orchard, playground and exercise equipment, a nature play area, grassy spaces and bushland.

Urban planners are also seeking to transform these open public spaces into visually appealing environments using improved architecture or art. Locker Group is helping these planners realise their artistic vision with a range of architectural products.

Locker Group recently completed the installation of the iconic Float sculpture of 12 large upturned umbrellas in Sydney, as part of a collaboration with Stone & Milnehouse. The Float consisted of two Transit stainless steel mesh pieces to mimic billowing umbrellas, with the mesh pieces shaped to fit the upside down umbrella skin.

Locker Group’s experts have the ability to mould metal into a wide variety of forms and create unique shapes.
