LED Lighting  was recently asked to provide low maintenance task and area fibre optic lighting for the memorial plaques, surrounding plaques, water features and walkway areas in the Peace Park complex.

The fibre optics were required to provide visually intriguing effects within a number of featured totem poles, which are a key focal point of the park.

The fibre optic lighting also needed to be waterproof and vandal resistant with the fibre optic light sources themselves hidden underground. The plaque fibre optic lighting was to be free of glare so the view of the observer would not be obscured.

LED Lighting provided the following design solution:

  • Digilin 30mm stainless steel eyelid fittings were selected for the plaques
  • 40mm diameter solid brass down lights with borosilicate glass lenses were fitted to the timber beams of the pergola
  • Totem poles were fitted with purpose built up-lights placed inside the inspection panels. Weather-proof lenses were incorporated for durability as the poles are stencilled with laser cut design elements. Fed by a six-position colour wheel, the totem effect is visually stunning and unique.
Two DB 300 light sources fitted below ground in two pits with surface vents to power the lighting at Peace Park. The result of the project was a practical and visually pleasing result that satisfied all the requirements of the design brief.

The client was happy with the outdoor space that displays artistic and architectural features enhanced by reliable, low maintenance, vandal resistant, efficient and visually stunning fibre optic lighting.
