Compact bathroom spaces are a reality in modern constructions. However, with some imaginative thinking, one can create the perception of more space by incorporating certain elements into the bathroom design.
Integrating greenery into the bathroom design using plants or green walls can add style without crowding or cluttering the limited space.
A recent bathroom project (pictured above) featured oversized tiles, space-saving Kohler bathroom fixtures and an abundance of foliage to create an oasis of calm and serenity. An unusual inclusion was the use of 600mm hexagonal tiles in white, dove-grey and charcoal that matched the clever, technology-rich fixtures from Kohler to create a stylish vibe in a compact area. The large scale tiles also reduced the visual noise of grout lines.
Additionally, elements such as wall hung furniture, in-wall toilet cistern and ceiling-mount showerhead with Katalyst technology, all contributed to the perceived increase in space.
The kauri-topped wall-mount vanity is enhanced by an understated square white Forefront basin fitted with a wall-mount polished chrome mixer tap from the Purist collection, both by Kohler. Wall-mount fixtures help to increase visible floor space, making the bathroom appear bigger.
The sleek, wall mount Ove toilet with concealed in-wall cistern is a space-saving solution for this bathroom. Projecting just 540mm from the wall instead of the usual 600mm or more for conventional toilet suites, the Ove is designed for comfort and convenience, and comes complete with a soft close seat and lid.
The ceiling mount shower, Kohler RainCan enhances the spacious, uncluttered showering area while its clever Katalyst technology delivers a water-saving yet luxuriously drenching rain shower experience. The Katalyst technology introduces 2.2 litres of air into every 9.4 litres of water, creating larger, fuller water droplets that retain heat longer.
The versatile Awaken slide shower near the green wall offers three unique sprays including a full coverage spray and a drenching spray.
