A unique collaboration between industry leaders Kingspan Insulation and Dulux AcraTex has resulted in a new lightweight cladding system with exceptional performance characteristics.

The Exsulite-Kooltherm thermal facade system is a fully integrated, lightweight External Insulation and Finishing System (EIFS), which has only recently entered the Australian market.

The National Construction Code (NCC) requires these types of walling systems to comply with appropriate design and installation controls. Exsulite-Kooltherm thermal facade system is CodeMark certified as a total integrated system. Considered the building industry’s highest level of certification, the CodeMark certification means Exsulite-Kooltherm is compliant with NCC requirements.

The cavity element

The cavity element in the Exsulite-Kooltherm thermal facade system is created by installing a vertical spacer or batten to each wall stud. Designed as a self-draining ventilation system, the cavity enables deflection, drainage and drying - the cavity prevents potential water ingress from passing through to the frame, ensures any moisture or water ingress is drained down the back of the Kingspan Kooltherm insulation board and out through the bottom of the wall through weep holes, and dries out any remaining moisture through ventilation provided along the bottom of the cavity and the Exsulite vapour-permeable wall wrap.

Exceptional thermal performance

The Exsulite-Kooltherm thermal facade system offers excellent thermal performance, thanks to the Kingspan Kooltherm K5 external wall board, a rigid, thermoset insulation board and lightweight exterior walling system, which delivers both weatherproofing and insulation of the building envelope, helping to eliminate thermal bridging that may occur through the wall frame.

Installation perfect

Supplied as a fully integrated EIFS system, the Exsulite-Kooltherm thermal facade system allows uncomplicated construction with all system components from one single supplier, Dulux AcraTex, and installation performed by a Dulux AcraTex Exsulite trained and registered installer. Since Exsulite-Kooltherm is supplied as a complete, integrated system from a single supplier and installed by a registered installer to specifications, there is no scope for mistakes in assembly, risk of product substitution or incorrect specification.

The builder or client also gets the assurance of a job well done with complete quality control documentation for the job and finish provided by the installer in the Exsulite-Kooltherm System Certificate of Installation.
