Kingspan Water & Energy supplied Tankworks rainwater tanks for a residential project at the Defence Housing Australia (DHA) estate in the Sydney suburb of Ermington, where water tanks were required to obtain BASIX certificates.
Fast emerging as a vibrant and sustainable neighbourhood, the AE2, when complete, will feature more than 700 residences for Defence members and their families. The development is named in honour of the personnel on board the HMAS AE2 submarine, which in the First World War, paved the way for Allied ships to cross the Dardenelles during the Gallipoli campaign.
The DHA has completed 210 properties. Approximately 500 apartments and commercial premises will be constructed by Payce Consolidated and joint partners, Sekisui House. All of the DHA homes on the estate are built to achieve a minimum Six Star energy rating.
Tankworks supplied 119 rainwater tanks for the residential units. The tank was specially designed to offer a cost-effective solution to the development. Installation time for the rainwater tanks was considerably reduced using the Kingspan Evolution MKII system.
