A cleaning package consisting of a rotary cleaning attachment and a water blaster was hired from Kennards Hire to keep one of Sydney’s popular marinas clean.

The Rotary Kleen device attached to a 4000psi cold water blaster was provided by Kennards Hire Burwood to d’Albora Marinas at Cabarita Point, one of seven facilities operated by the latter in NSW and Victoria.

According to Marina dockmaster Rod McManus, a simple water blaster is not sufficient to clean the concrete walkways, which link the 135 berths while also presenting risk of damage to the nearby vessels from the grit in the overspray.

He explains that the rotary cleaning attachment speeds up the work, making it easier and very effective in cleaning the marina.

Lucas Ringrose, who operated the machine, said that the swirling brush action brought dirt and grime to the surface of the concrete, which was washed away with a hose before it dried. He was able to effectively clean the entire area including locations such as the kiosk and restaurant, which are subject to constant traffic and spills.

Kennards offers a range of water blasters including 4000psi and 2000psi petrol-powered and 1200psi electric-powered units, along with 1500psi hot water machines to meet diverse cleaning requirements. The 240V hot water blasters are ideal for removing oil, grease and substances such as chewing gum.

Kennards Hire operates 122 equipment hire centres around Australia, including four new outlets in the Northern Territory and another in the Adelaide Hills.
