Kennards Hire  Pump & Power supplied a complete package of generators to provide 1.5 megawatts of temporary power to a cable laying company.

Comprising of five generators, the 1.5MW temporary power solution was required to support a new electrical installation in the mining town of Newman in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. The package included one 500kVA and four 250kVA generators, the latter being synchronised to create two 500kVA generators.

Cable Layers Australia was carrying out a new underground installation in Newman, originally a closed mining town built by BHP Biliton, but now a central hub for diverse mining operations.

Jason Knight, Managing Director of Cable Layers Australia explained that they had to drop the overhead power while laying the new cable. BHP Biliton stipulated that generators be provided for, in the event the outages extended beyond four hours.

Cable Layers was very happy with the quality of Kennards’ generators and service.
