Having introduced 1.5 tonne ride-on rollers across its extensive branch network, Kennards Hire is turning its attention to adding bigger units.

Several 2.5 tonne articulated, twin drum rollers are now available in select areas.

A VicRoads crew, who hired one of the machines from Kennards Airport West while building a new bus bay on busy Milleara Road in East Keilor, gave it the tick of approval.

“It was excellent - I give it six stars” said Don Cecere, works supervisor, road surface, out from Dandenong.

The Kennards Hire’s 2.5 tonne ride-on roller has a drum width of one metre, and features two vibration frequencies, allowing the operator to compact the sub-base at a high centrifugal force and switch to the low setting for asphalt layers.

Ergonomic features include a roomy, vibration-isolated operator station with all-around visibility. A single hydraulic control lever, with a built-in vibration control switch, simplifies operation.

Kennards Hire has also invested heavily in other types of compaction equipment, with remote-controlled pad foot rollers also now available in some regions.

More reversible plate compactors have also been added, with an extra large model available in Perth.

Kennards Hire has more than 90 locations across Australia and four specialist equipment divisions.
