How tailored ventilation systems from Airocle are improving working environments at mine sites

    Airocle

Corrosion resulting from extreme heat and humidity is responsible for the high cost of maintenance and repair at mining facilities. While many project operators are treating the impact of corrosion, an increasing number of stakeholders are looking for ways to minimise or eliminate the root cause of corrosion in such environments.

Mining sites around Australia have been reviewing their aboveground operations and finding ways to not just remove these elements of corrosion but also improve working environments, reduce operational costs, increase building life and enhance WH&S standards. Mine operators are taking the assistance of natural ventilation specialists to achieve these objectives in both new and existing buildings.

Natural ventilation solutions are benefitting mining sites tremendously with reports of reduced humidity and corrosion in building structures and machinery, improved conditions for workers, lower maintenance and energy costs, and increased building lifecycles coming in from the field.

The IVR Group trading as Airocle has established its leadership in helping mining operations achieve these benefits by designing tailored natural ventilation systems engineered for harsh environment operations such as large infrastructure, industrial and mining projects. Natural ventilation solutions have progressed beyond putting a few holes in the wall or adding roof vents with operation managers realising the need for complete systems that deliver reliable and sustainable performance.

Airocle has pioneered the use of detailed performance-based calculations and CFD modelling of its products, and the design of natural ventilation systems to allow projects to perform in all seasons and operating environments. Airocle, backed by CSIRO testing and a complete in-house design and engineering division, enables building managers and designers to work with a company that designs, engineers, manufactures and even installs and services the system, ensuring the right solution and system performance for every ventilation application.

Observing that natural ventilation is no longer just about providing a product, Airocle Managing Director Stephen Bird explains that new advances in computer modelling, access to historical weather and wind patterns, and the company’s established expertise in the natural ventilation field allow them to show clients the real benefits and even present a tailored proposal for mine sites.

Airocle’s ability to design systems to automatically or manually open and close all or particular sections of the ventilator according to various parameters and operating specifications has given mining operations total control of their systems to help achieve their objectives.

Airocle’s innovations in the natural ventilation industry extend beyond improved reliability and performance with the company recently unveiling its unique roof fall arrest system incorporated into its high capacity roof ventilator range. Designed and engineered to exceed Australian Standards, the integrated system has given mine sites the capacity to deal with roof access safety and natural ventilation simultaneously in one package.

With an ever increasing number of machine workshops, water treatment plants, chemical storage facilities, steel rolling mills, warehouses, glass float plants and coal handling processing plants (CHPPs) being fitted with natural ventilation systems by Airocle, operation managers, engineers and designers are assured of the company’s ability to deliver high performance and quality systems required for the most demanding of projects.

Airocle provides building designers detailed workshop drawings and tailored engineering solutions for each project as well as complimentary design advice during the entire project construction and operation phases. Airocle manufactures its entire product range in Australia and has an array of qualified installation tradespeople who are highly experienced in site inductions within the mining industry, placing the company at the leading edge of solution-based natural ventilation services.
