AkzoNobel Powder Coatings  has released the 2011 Colour of the Year.

The 2011 Colour of the Year is a light, airy, citrus yellow that symbolises a freer spirit, sense of fun and positive energy.

Yellow in colour psychology terms is always associated with warmth and sunshine. Light and airy yellows are recognised as refreshing, cheering and uplifting.

Encapsulating a mood of hope and optimism, the clear, clean and translucent yellow conveys purity and freedom, new growth, relaxed fun as well as the goodness and vitality of sunshine.

The 2011 Colour of the Year is a cheerful colour that will always create a mood of freshness.

Yellow encourages communication and learning, helping to combat fatigue and depression. The colour is also believed to enhance a mood of relaxation, which in turn helps to minimise anxiety and stress.

The 2011 Colour of the Year represents a balance of the mind and body, nourishing the body while lifting and energising the mind.

This shade can enhance, define and clarify space both inside and out. The slight green edge gives it newness over egg yolk tones of yellow and perfectly reflects appreciation of nature and man-made materials, as it feels both organic and technological.

Though very different, it is surprisingly flexible and works with a huge array of related and contrasting shades to create colour schemes, which are soothing, sparkling or challenging depending on how the tones are co-ordinated.

The 2011 Colour of the Year goes best with true cool neutrals, deepest berry violets, crisp blues or airy sorbet pastels.
