Interpod have recently had the pleasure of welcoming Ben Liebenberg to our team. Ben brings with him a wealth of experience in project management and operational management. Stepping into the role of Chief Operations Officer, Ben’s presence and professionalism can already be felt reverberating through Interpod’s factory locations.
Ben is a near perfect fit for the Interpod team with extensive experience in operational management areas such as lean manufacturing, just-in-time logistics, and new product development, coupled with a proven talent for project management and expediting.
Ben played a key role in some of UGL Limited’s greatest project successes including managing and delivering exceptional project performance on the Oscar Project, which saw 99 new train carriages delivered to the NSW lines. Ben’s role as GM Projects for the Ghan Refurbishment, a $30 million overhaul of the premium coaches on one of Australia’s most iconic strips of railway infrastructure, was another definitive success.
Coming to Australia from South Africa 16 years ago with his wife, Ben started his career in the automotive industry working his way up to the position of General Manager at tier one automotive supplier AIC. During his time working in this industry, Ben worked with some of the automotive world’s biggest brands including Mercedes Benz, BMW, Volkswagen, Holden, and Ford.
Ben’s first visit to Australia, however, was under a different guise playing rugby union for the Natal Sharks in the Super Ten Tournament. Though his boots may be hung up, Ben is still an avid sports fan and enjoys watching sports with his two kids on any given weekend.
The experience and knowledge tabled by Ben will bring a new era of excellence for Interpod extending our commitment to delivering above and beyond the expectations of our clients.
The many achievements Ben has had over his 20-plus year career within the engineering and manufacturing industry can’t be listed here and Interpod are confident that there will be many more with us.
