New research programme to push growth in prefab

    Interpod Offsite

In early November, the University of Melbourne announced a new research programme to push growth in the prefab industry. The Australian Research Council (ARC) Training Centre for Advanced Manufacturing of Prefabricated Housing will focus their efforts on research and development of new technologies and methods for prefab and modular building. The aim of the research programme will be to provide Australians with smarter, more affordable, more sustainable, and more efficient housing.

“The ARC Training Centre…will train the next generation of researchers, embedding them in an industry setting and providing a ‘training pipeline’ for Masters students, PhD graduates and Postdoctoral Fellows,” said Dr Fiona Cameron, ARC executive director for biological sciences and biotechnology.

“At the same time, it will enable industry-based engineers and architects to apply advanced manufacturing principles to the production of prefabricated modular buildings, including the application of new scientific knowledge, methods and technologies.”

Interpod is excited to see leading educational institutions investing their resources in the development of the industry.
