WORKSHOPPED announces an exclusive relationship with Covemore Designs to re-introduce selected pieces from the ‘Mid-Century’ range designed by Tony Parker. Covemore Designs works with Tony Parker and employs several skilled tradespeople originally from the Parker furniture era.
Leading designer of the Australian furniture industry for over 40 years, Tony Parker had early in his career spent time in London honing his skills by designing contemporary furniture for the department store John Lewis. On returning to Sydney, Tony set out to expand his father’s furniture business by developing the ‘Mid-Century’ furniture range.
Beautiful, functional and expertly crafted, the Mid-Century range became enormously popular in Australia. By the 1960s, Tony Parker's furniture featured in numerous Australian homes and was recognised as a premium quality product.
Tony Parker and his brother Ross were presented in 1984 with the European Award for Furniture Excellence in Paris, the first Australian furniture manufacturer to receive the award.
A small collection from the Mid-Century range is included in the latest release in a range of contemporary finishes. All pieces are manufactured in Covemore Designs' Sydney factory and available exclusively through WORKSHOPPED.
According to WORKSHOPPED Director, Raymond Scott, the craftsmanship is outstanding and there'll be considerable excitement in people being able to own original, high quality Australian designed and manufactured furniture. Just like the originals, every piece of Tony Parker furniture will be made to order, from a range of available timbers, finishes and fabrics.
Tony Parker is pleased that his early designs of the 60s are once more becoming popular with the discerning customer in Australia. He finds it fitting that Covemore Designs whose craftsmen are his ex-employees and skilled in the making of fine furniture, is now partnering with WORKSHOPPED to re-introduce selected pieces from the early Mid-Century range.
