The Pixel building designed by studio505 in Melbourne was recently awarded the best in sustainable building design at this year’s BPN Sustainability Awards, held at WatersEdge Sydney.
Now in its 5th year, the national awards program was developed by Building Products News (BPN) magazine specifically to recognise the best in Australia’s green building industry.
Hosted by James O’Loglin from the ABC’s New Inventors, the gala event saw leading Australian designers, builders and manufacturers gather to celebrate the best sustainable practices.
Featured judges included Bill Dowzer, principal at leading Australian firm BVN Architecture; Dick Clarke, director of sustainable building consultancy Envirotecture; and Dr Chris Reardon, academic and practicing building expert.
The Pixel, a prototype carbon neutral office building, was praised by industry leading jurors for contributing to the education and learning process in the building industry.
Bill Dowzer says; “The project is a very valuable addition to the city and illustrates the possibilities of future large scale CBD office buildings.”
