Leighton Contractors Pty Limited has been awarded the Elizabeth Quay inlet and public space development contract by the Western Australian State Government.

The $200 million project will be carried out by Leighton Contractors in conjunction with its subsidiary, Broad Construction Services (WA) Pty Ltd.

The Elizabeth Quay project is one of a series of important State Government initiatives to develop Perth as a contemporary, liveable and globally competitive city enhancing its appeal for residents, city workers and visitors alike.

Spanning an area of approximately 10 hectares, the project includes constructing a new inlet with associated roads, parks, promenades and an island with a connecting bridge.

According to Peter Handel, General Manager Western Infrastructure at Leighton Contractors, the contract is a great opportunity for Leighton Contractors and Broad to be part of one of Perth CBD’s biggest projects. By bringing their extensive engineering and construction experience and design expertise to this development, the two companies will be able to play a big role in contributing to the revitalisation of the city.

Broad Managing Director Roger Lee added that being awarded the Elizabeth Quay contract was evidence of the combined knowledge, experience and capabilities of Leighton Contractors and Broad.

A workforce of 600 workers will be required on the project, which is expected to commence in early 2013 and has a scheduled completion date of mid-2015.
