HP is organising a new global competition honouring graphic arts printing produced on HP Designjet, Indigo, Inkjet Web Press and Scitex systems.

HP has issued a call for entries for the HP Print Excellence Awards, which will be judged by an international panel of print experts.

Winners will be selected from entries across 16 categories of commercial print, wide-format graphics and label and packaging applications. In addition to evaluating print quality, the HP Print Excellence Awards will also recognise innovative examples of environmentally responsible printing.

The competition unifies several existing regional and worldwide HP print quality awards into a single, comprehensive awards program. Entry is free for the HP Print Excellence Awards.

Entry details and forms are available for HP graphic arts customers on the HP website.

Contest participants must make their submissions by March 15, 2012. Winners will be announced at an invitation-only gala event held during drupa 2012 next May in Düsseldorf, Germany. Select entries will also be on display at HP’s stand at drupa.

According to Christopher Morgan, senior vice president, Graphics Solutions Business, HP, the HP Print Excellence Awards will show how customers fully express their ingenuity, creativity and skill using HP print solutions.

The competition will also enable HP to observe how their customers are advancing the analogue to digital transformation and achieving new levels of colour quality and innovation.

Shane Lucas, Director, HP Graphic Arts South Pacific said that the Awards offered a great opportunity for HP graphic arts customers in the region to showcase their work and compete with peers around the world.

He believes that the HP Print Excellence Awards will provide a fantastic platform to demonstrate the vast array of applications possible with HP graphic arts printing technology.

Note: For HP customers in the Asia Pacific Japan (APJ) region, entries into the global competition will be via the APJ HP Digital Awards 2012. Only category winners in the APJ HP Digital Awards 2012 will be entered into the global HP Print Excellence Awards 2012.

The APJ HP Digital Awards have been held for five years, but this is the first time HP has held an international Print Excellence Awards.
