An HP Indigo WS4500 digital printing press from HP is helping Assta Label House increase its capacity as well as capability in label printing.

Managing Director Graeme Staas says that they have chosen the HP Indigo WS4500 and the ABG Digicon as a starting point for their digital print platform in response to market demands. The company has been following the progress and evolution of the Indigo printing presses for the past decade, and finally decided to invest in one to support their entry into the digital market.

Assta Label House is a family owned company established in 1947 and employing 60 people across three sites with the head office in Peakhurst, a southern suburb of Sydney. The company services a broad range of industries from wine and beverages through to therapeutic products and FMCG with their label printing services.

The HP Indigo technology has benefitted Assta Label House in many ways. The digital press enables the company to meet the demand for uncoated wine labels, which they were unable to do so, previously. The press also allows them to effectively run smaller, urgent jobs, and jobs with multiple changes.

Key benefits of HP Indigo WS4500 digital printing press:

  • Versatility to print on a range of uncoated and coated synthetic materials
  • Fast make ready and change over times
  • Minimal waste
  • Offset-like print quality

According to Mark Daws, Sales Manager - Labels & Packaging, Currie Group says they are very impressed with the work delivered by Assta Label House on the digital print platform. He adds that Assta is able to offer their customers a complete end-to-end solution suited to multiple SKUs and strategic print runs using their HP Indigo press and a high configuration ABG Digicon.

Mr Staas already sees opportunities for expansion particularly in regards to variable data after just three months with the HP digital press. With the label market indicating a clear trend in favour of digital printing, Assta is now well placed to meet market demands.
