Hickory Group led the construction of a multi-storey luxury apartment project in South Melbourne, which won multiple awards for its unique design features. Fifty Albert is composed of a ground floor combining commercial and residents-only spaces, 7½ levels of car park spaces, and 21 storeys of 282 residential apartments.

Some of the standout design features include sweeping balcony-adorned facades, a distinguished feathered entrance and a heritage facade front. Boasting five-star living, the apartment building has a lobby lounge served by a concierge bar upon entry, a residents’ health club and indoor retreat area, and a rooftop entertainment area including spa, poker room and viewing room.

Hickory Group sourced the facade, cladding and balustrades from Jangho China. The feathered screen construction hangs from the underside of the level 5 slab and wraps into the ground floor lobby/ cafe areas. The sweeping balustrades were engineered to structurally combat wind uplift while maintaining an elegant design.

The Fifty Albert project has won the UDIA (Victoria) 2013 Award for Excellence - High Density Development; City of Port Phillip 2014 Design Development Award (Best New Development 6+ Storeys); and City of Port Phillip 2014 Design Development Award (Best Contribution to Urban Art).
