A recent presentation delivered by Shaila Divakarla, the Standards & Technical Manager at Good Environmental Choice Australia (GECA), covered the complex subject of eco-labelling and specifying for green building projects.
The talk was an informative introduction into what the GECA eco-label represents, the robustness of GECA’s standards and how the eco-label can assist architects and interior designers to specify for green building projects in Australia and globally.
A registered architect holding a Ph.D. in sustainable architecture, Shaila has more than 10 years of experience in the industry. Shaila is also a Green Star Accredited Professional (GSAP), Greensmart professional and an accredited NatHERS/BASIX assessor.
The presentation took an in-depth look at the core principles behind the GECA organisation as well as their standards, regulation and compliance for meeting GECA eco-label standards and provided a comprehensive overview of how various suppliers, manufacturers, and procurers can work towards earning Green Star points.
