An engineered wood flooring product from Havwoods was specified for a terrace home renovation in Darlinghurst to complement the project’s minimalist palette.

The project involved the renovation of a rundown three-storey terrace home, which was being restored to its original features while introducing a contemporary element at the same time.

Significant effort was invested to retain the original character of the building, which was quite minimalist in design. Tom Mark Henry Studio, which was engaged for the design, opted to create a more functional floor plan and pull the natural light through the space. To achieve this, the designers decided to open the existing ground floor structure.

Tom Mark Henry sought a floor finish that complemented all aspects of the design, including the existing sandstone walls and paired back minimal palette. Havwoods Botany was chosen for its light colouring and deep, rustic knots as well as for its quality and finish, creating a beautiful juxtaposition between colour and texture, which is evident throughout the entire home.

The designers also focussed on the interplay of texture, combining hard and soft finishes, contrasting matt and gloss surfaces, and light and dark to create intrigue and depth in an otherwise monochromatic palette.

"Our experience with Havwoods, as always, is extremely enjoyable. We find the sales representatives very responsive and easy to work with. We also love how invested they are in our projects! Throughout the process, we were required to order additional material and Havwoods was great at providing a fast service to ensure the build was not held up," stated Tom Mark Henry Studio.
