The Materials In Mind pod is a unique initiative by Good Environmental Choice Australia (GECA) to showcase and promote a range of beautiful and functional GECA Certified building materials and furniture.

GECA has repurposed a 20-foot used shipping container into the Materials In Mind pod, which has been designed to provide visitors an interactive experience via built-in educational elements that outline key environmental, health and social issues associated with different building materials. Visitors also get an opportunity to leave behind their wish for the planet on a wishing tree.

First launched at Sydney InDesign, Materials In Mind found immediate acceptance among visitors to the event. GECA's Marketing Manager, Paula Clasby said visitors loved the design and look of the container and enjoyed the interactive elements of learning more about what environmental, health and social criteria to look for in a material or product.

With increasing awareness about the environmental impact, social responsibility and safety of products and materials throughout the built environment and interior design industries, manufacturers realise the importance of a transparent, ethical and sustainable supply chain. However, it’s also imperative that architects, specifiers and consumers remain informed about the best products in the market that meet these environmental objectives.

GECA’s interactive showcase of sustainable building materials will next be on display at the Randwick Eco-living Fair on 3rd September 2017.

GECA thanks all involved in the creation of Materials In Mind, including Kebony, Astec Paints, BGC Plasterboard, Spectrum Floors, Grass-cel, Regupol, Zenith Interiors, The Bold Collective, Caen Creative and Randwick City Council.
