Eva Tilley Memorial Home, an independent residential care facility for the elderly in North Balwyn, Victoria, engaged Studio Tate for their refurbishment project.

Studio Tate was required to refresh the entrance, lounges, dining area, resident amenities and circulation spaces in a way that fostered connection and encompassed family and community events. Practicality and comfort were key considerations from a design perspective, with the brief also requiring the final outcome to exude elegance and sophistication.

Natural stone and vivid pops of colour were used to provide character and comfort for the residents, while customisable features and decorative shelving encourage personalisation that support the connection to home life and family.

Godfrey Hirst Australia supplied two products for the flooring at the facility. The super wide Orion luxury vinyl planks were used throughout the dining area. Featuring a timber texture and grain, these planks have a protective wear layer for added durability, making them the perfect choice for this community area.

Godfrey Hirst also created a custom carpet using their Designer Jet print technology, which allows unique carpet designs to be produced to suit bespoke interior spaces. The carpet was supplied with Godfrey Hirst’s impervious backing, Healthbac to meet the demands of this aged care environment. Healthbac features an impervious moisture barrier, offers bio-contaminate control, and is PVC and BPA free.
