Gerard Lighting was commissioned to produce a luminaire to achieve specific lighting parameters at a new office building by Mirvac in Sydney, NSW.

Located at 200 George Street, the smart office is designed by leading architectural practice Francis-Jones Morehen Thorm (FJMT) to embody industry-leading design, technology and sustainability features. The 37-storeyed building with 33 office floors is home to Mirvac and Ernst & Young’s new Sydney headquarters.

Gerard Lighting was engaged by ARUP Consulting on behalf of Mirvac to produce a custom luminaire that would ensure the lighting component aligned with the design, technology and sustainability features of the project. These included the mandatory National Construction Code (NCC) compliance, as well as a 6 Star Green Star rating.

ARUP Consulting sought a supplier who not only had a record of reliability, technical capability and willingness to customise, but also could deliver a product that balanced technical parameters with aesthetics, quality and affordability.

For a project with unique floor plates, a customised LED solution was the only viable option. With help from their R&D team, Gerard Lighting came up with an efficient and impactful lighting solution consisting of their latest model Pierlite F-LED louvre troffer with Samsung chipsets to achieve stringent LTPs (as required by Green Star and BCA). The LED luminaire not only achieves 20% energy savings but also delivers a massive 50% saving in maintenance overheads.

One of Australia’s most environmentally advanced and sustainable buildings, 200 George Street is the first in Australia to be fully lit with LED lights. Representing ‘World Leadership’ in environmental sustainability practices, a 6 Star Green Star - Office Design (v3) rating has been attained, together with a 5 Star NABERS Energy Rating (Excellent Performance).
