Simon Minney of Canberra’s idig Landscaping used Futurewood CleverDeck to design a unique decking project for his client.

The clients wanted two circles of decking to form a centerpiece to their new crescent-shaped home in Yarralumla. In addition to the circular design, the decking had to have a shower the children could play under on hot days. The clients also specified Futurewood CleverDeck, a material Minney had never used before.

Working closely with the clients, Minney was able to develop their ideas into a series of spherical levels that bridged the natural fall between the opposite wings of the house. A black composite pot made the perfect shower base that drained into the stormwater, while another pot was modified to form an open fire pit.

Minney was more than impressed with the pre-coloured Mahogany CleverDeck, especially its durability. He was concerned about scuffing during the construction phase until they noticed that the off cuts showed no signs of damage.

Heat treating the outer boards to create the required curves is not something Minney would recommend trying at home, but the finished result is spectacular. His clients are delighted with a creation that surpassed their expectations.

Minney is already a Futurewood convert and has already priced the material into two other jobs.
