Flowfast Quartz Scatter from Flowcrete was used to create an eye-catching design on the floor of the Perth City Railway Station, greeting visitors with a cheerful burst of colour and energy.

Designed by contemporary design studio Donaldson and Warn, the striking new floor mirrors the station’s interconnected network of tracks, cables and lights, and has been produced using the oil painting technique called underpainting, with complementary colours used to enrich the depth of the aesthetics.

Painted on an area covering 2,650 square metres using Flowfast Quartz Scatter, the work of art on the station’s floor consists of long, straight bands of different lengths and a wide spectrum of colours (including purples, greens, lilac and light red), running alongside each other up and down the concourse area.

Flowfast Quartz Scatter was ideal for this project as the fast cure flooring product could be quickly applied in the desired colours and patterns, minimising disruption to travellers during application. The robust nature of the finish ensures it would be able to withstand foot traffic from the station’s 60,000 daily commuters.
