With a 75-year track record among motorists in New South Wales and ACT, the National Roads & Motorists Association (NRMA) of Australia added to its range of services recently by launching its new Motorserve concept, offering its members reliable workshop and repair facilities.

In keeping with the NRMA’s requirement to maintain its image, a specialist system from Flowcrete Australia was selected for the flooring at these new facilities. To date, a total of five Motorserve facilities have been installed with the system.

Tony Di Girolamo, Country Manager for Flowcrete Australia, says the specification was for a hard-wearing, impact resistant floor with a slip resistant, easy to clean surface.

“The NRMA was originally considering a thin roll coat system but opted for a resin system due to their requirements for impact resistance and the sometimes difficult to achieve blend of slip resistance and cleanability.”

After diamond grind preparation of the substrate, Flowcrete Australia’s Flowcoat SF41 Composite was installed in two applications with a broadcast of sand aggregate in between, delivering the required level of impact resistance.

A final topcoat of polyurethane UV stable Flowseal provided a smooth, slip resistant surface with high cleanability.

“A two tone colour scheme of light grey for the drive through areas and dark grey for the work bays plus white linemarking makes for a very presentable and tidy environment,” adds Tony Di Girolamo.

The five workshops to be installed with the Flowcrete systems so far are located in Kotara, Seven Hills, Artarmon (pictured), Liverpool and Canberra.
