Flowcrete UK won recognition at the FeRFA Best Practise Awards 2016 for a high quality flooring project executed in partnership with Resin Coating Specialists at a newly-built cattery. Flowcrete was honoured with an award in the Highly Commended Small Industrial Project category for their flooring solutions.

The prestigious industry event celebrates workmanship, diversity, innovation and commitment to quality and training by FeRFA members. FeRFA award winners are picked from four categories: Small Industrial Project of the Year; Large Industrial Project of the Year; Small Commercial Project of the Year; and Large Commercial Project of the Year.

Larton Livery, located in Frankby on the Wirral peninsula, was building a new, high-end cattery for which they needed a high performance flooring solution in order to maintain a clean and attractive appearance despite the inherent hygiene difficulties. The brief also sought a colour and design for the floor that would impress visiting clients and emphasise their high quality service.

Flowcrete UK supplied 180m² of Flowfresh SL and 210m² of Flowshield FX for installation by Resin Coating Specialists. The cream coloured Flowfresh SL coating was applied across the cattery area while Flowshield FX was used to create a black walkway around the room.

Given the hygiene challenges of the cattery facility, Larton Livery knew that a rigorous cleaning regime would be required, especially for contamination prone areas such as underneath the animal cages. The seamless and impervious nature of the chosen finishes from Flowcrete ensured that all contaminants could be quickly and easily removed from the area. Additionally, the antibacterial agent Polygiene is incorporated within every Flowfresh floor; this additive can kill up to 99.9% of bacteria, including the Parvovirus and MRSA.

The flooring installation was preceded by consultations with the client and bespoke samples were also provided to tailor the project to the client’s budget and timeframe. Resin Coating Specialists installed over 400m² of specialist resin flooring solutions at the new cattery in just one week, providing the client a high performance finish within a very short turnaround time. The quick completion allowed Larton Livery to get on with the job of finishing the cattery and opening up for business.
