FLIR Infrared Cameras & Thermal Imaging has won the prestigious Red Dot Design Award for the FLIR E8 thermal camera.

The FLIR E8 is a winner of the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2014. One of the most sought-after quality marks for good design, the Red Dot Award is given by an expert jury that appraises the products based on different criteria such as innovation, functionality, formal quality, ergonomics, sustainability, symbolic and emotional content, and whether a product is self-explanatory.

FLIR Systems developers teamed up with HOWL to finalise the optimal design for a thermal camera that met the needs of a professional user.

Key design features of FLIR E8 thermal imaging cameras include balanced design for one hand operation; can be operated with a gloved hand; withstands tough working environments; simple user interface, eliminating the need for manuals; and latest user interface ‘Dark Precision’ developed for readability with the touchscreen placing all functions at the user’s fingertips.
