Vitrastone, a popular natural stone cladding system from Fairview was selected for the façade of the new Kings Domain apartments in South Melbourne. The developers of this iconic project chose Vitrastone for the façade cladding application for several reasons.
Vitrastone is a lightweight interior or exterior cladding solution that combines the beauty of natural stone with enhanced stability and flexibility while reducing the weight by a fifth compared to solid dimensional stone.
Vitrastone’s composition delivers a strong product that’s less prone to fracturing; the cladding comprises of a 6mm stone veneer bonded to a 15mm aluminium honeycomb substrate using aviation grade epoxies. Designed by SJB Architect, the Kings Domain apartments feature Vitrastone in Silver Travertine throughout the façade of the 23-level development. The fixing system also provided for a simple installation process.
Quarried directly from Italy, Vitrastone Silver Travertine on the façade has a modern and textural allure since no two panels are identical.
Vitrastone is available in a large range of natural finishes including granite, marble and sandstone. Buyers can also specify a particular stone on request.
