EDGE Architectural Glazing Systems supplied a series of products for a prestigious apartment project in the inner-city hub of North Melbourne.

Offering quick access to the CBD as well as Melbourne’s top hospitals, zoo and most prestigious universities, North Melbourne is an impressive location and a sought-after address. Originally dedicated to manufacturing, North Melbourne’s residential streets were lined with Victorian-style homes, many of which still remain, with owners undertaking modern additions and alterations. North Melbourne’s warehouses and larger blocks are experiencing dramatic reinvention with the evolving residential development scene seeing the rise of apartments in a big way.

Assembly Apartments designed by Woods Bagot is set to be an impressive addition to North Melbourne with the development featuring four individual buildings, separate but connected through shared central courtyard space, rooftop terraces and landscaped laneways to create a sense of community. Special design elements have been included to reference the suburb’s past.

Assembly offers 138 boutique-style apartments in all, ranging from 20 dwellings in the smallest building to 43 units in the largest.

EDGE Architectural has supplied GEN centre glazed framing systems, awnings and sliding doors. Glazing will be a key design feature of each building’s facade, with windows highlighted by architectural box hoods.

Assembly Apartments is being developed by Cbus Property with LU Simon serving as the builder on the project and Pacific Shopfitters being the window fabricators.
