EBSA Pty Ltd was recognised as the ‘Most Innovative Window System’ for their MP2 Cyclone Louvres at the 2021 AGWA Design Awards.

MP2 Louvre System

Natural light, fresh air and a sense of space are key attributes of modern building architecture and louvre windows are recognised as an effective means of delivering them. The application of louvre windows within Cyclonic Regions C & D has been challenging for designers as until recently no louvre system had fulfilled both the requirements of AS2047 and passed both Debris Test Load A and B in a simulated wind-driven debris impact test.

The MP2 louvre, which includes both framed and frameless double glazed versions is the first louvre system to not only pass both Load A and B tests but has done so using a single sample, a significantly more difficult route to certification and one that guarantees an optimum solution and meets all of the requirements of the Queensland Government Department of Public Works Design Guidelines for Australian Public Shelters Section 3.2 (b).

To further demonstrate the innovative technology in the MP2 louvre, the above tests were performed immediately after the sample had been tested to AS2047, ensuring that compliance in all categories was achieved on a single sample without modifications between tests.

The MP2 louvre passed the wind-driven debris impact loads tested @ 29m/s and 32m/s, certifying that the louvre is capable of resisting wind load as stated in both AS/NZ 1170-2011 Part 2, Section 2.58 & 5.3.2 as well as the Queensland Government Department of Public Work Design Guidelines for Australian Public Shelters Section 3.2 (b).
