Brisbane-based commercial louvre and window design and automation specialist, EBSA Pty Ltd has installed about 300 glass and aluminium louvres at the Gold Coast Sports and Leisure Centre to provide ventilation and smoke control protection. EBSA was engaged by the builder, Hansen Yuncken to install their automated louvre technology, benefitting both athletes and visitors.

EBSA’s architectural glass louvres have the capacity to deliver an excellent ventilation system as well as form an integral part of a commercial smoke exhaust system. In the event of a fire, the automated smoke control system engages the louvres to open and allow fresh air to enter the building while very large exhaust fans remove the smoke.

For the installation at Gold Coast Sports and Leisure Centre, EBSA chose a proprietary fire-rated system that networks localised panels and interfaces with the fire indicator panel. Designed to Australian Standards, the automated louvre system interfaces with the building management system and the fire system to provide efficient ventilation and timely smoke control.

The custom made louvres feature glass that has been sized for optimum aesthetic value. Installed as part of the natural ventilation and smoke extraction system, the frameless glass louvres also add architectural appeal to the building’s main entrances.

EBSA also installed aluminium louvres fitted with fire-rated actuators and integrated into the smoke and ventilation system of the building.
