Dulux Electro powder coatings were specified for the Walan apartments in Brisbane to protect the stunning louvred facade on the building. Designed by Bureau Proberts, the Walan apartment building is perched along the clifftop of Brisbane’s Kangaroo Point.

Prior to specifying Dulux Powder Coatings, Bureau Proberts carried out a series of colour studies of the cliffscape and patterning to create a strong graphic expression. The architects chose Dulux Electro powder coatings for their anodised look that subtly changes in appearance throughout the day based on light conditions.

The collective impact of the six selected colours complements the engrained colour palette of the Kangaroo Point rock face and is representative of the changes on the cliff-face over time. The project used Electro Manor Red Gold (Bespoke Custom Colour); Electro Gold Pearl (Bespoke Custom Colour); Electro Copper Pearl (Bespoke Custom Colour); Electro Burnished Copper; Electro Natural Silver; and Electro Sensational Champagne.

The stunning building was recognised with the John Dalton Award for Building of the Year at the Australian Institute of Architects’ Queensland Regional Architecture Awards, as well as with a Commendation in the Exterior Commercial category of the 33rd Dulux Colour Awards.
