The Block’s House Four contestants Luke and Jasmin used DecoWood aluminium battens from DECO Australia to create an innovative daybed for their backyard. The backyard was considered a huge success by the judges, who scored a massive 29.5 points out of 30 for the talented couple.

Featuring in the final week of the room reveals for The Block 2020, House Four contestants Luke and Jasmin’s extravagant backyard combined the house’s 1910s heritage with their personal contemporary, coastal style, impressing the judges.

Daybed

Constructed from DECO’s durable, timber-look battens, the luxurious daybed has a visually striking design that curves up and over to create a modern and luxurious sanctuary in this quintessential Brighton beach home.

DECO’s new 25mm x 75mm designer batten series was used to create the daybed. The battens offered a super lightweight and easy-to-install option with no visible fixings or screws thanks to DECO’s unique ‘Quick Click’ two-piece DecoBatten design.

DecoWood’s marine-grade powdercoat finish in natural Curly Birch delivered the beautiful, low-maintenance timber appearance that would never need painting or staining, while ensuring added durability in Brighton’s coastal environment.

Designed by COS Design, the DecoWood daybed wowed all the judges and was much-admired by interior designer Shaynna Blaze who tried out the daybed and was surprised by the comfort factor.

"From the buyer's perspective, you're not gonna forget this house. When you come to have a look at it, you're going to remember the house that had the massive daybed," said interior designer and The Block judge Neil Whitaker.
