Waterfront City, the newest addition to Melbourne Docklands, boasts a vibrant, seamless mix of retail outlets, residential and commercial properties, and entertainment facilities.

CTA Australia  is proud to have had an integral role in the construction of this prominent cityscape project by providing SureSteel tactile indicators and ProStep safety stair nosing.

CTA worked closely with the architects and builders of the Waterfront City project, ensuring the area conforms to the Disability Discrimination Act (1992), without compromising its unique maritime design.

SureSteel tactile hazard indicators with a stepped side face and concentric ring top surface are featured throughout the Waterfront City site. The tactile indicators were installed in combination with a unique square section ribbed directional indicator, designed especially for this project. Tactile indicators are located at the top and foot of escalators and stairs, while directional guidance is provided to safely lead pedestrians over sloping ground and approaching kerbs.

ProStep safety stair nosing with black carborundum grit surface inserts are also used within the precinct, as well as in the car park with no compromise. ProStep has an R13 safety rating, providing a high quality anti-slip solution.

CTA’s tactile indicators and ProStep safety nosing have been specifically designed to meet all aspects of the Australian Standard: Design for Access and Mobility - AS1428.4:2002.

The tactile indicators and nosing also achieve an anti-slip safety rating of R13, as tested by the CSIRO, and comply with the Building Code of Australia.
