CST Wastewater Solutions  was a finalist in the ‘Environmental Solution of the Year’ category of the Manufacturer’s Monthly annual Endeavour Awards for 2013.

CST Wastewater Solutions was nominated for the award for their work on the Bathurst Regional Council supernatant recycling system, which provides substantial water savings over the long term.

Bathurst Council’s recycling system installed by Ted Wilson & Sons using equipment supplied by CST Wastewater Solutions recovers and disinfects the filter backwash water at the plant.

CST has been providing Australasia with a broad range of quality, cost-effective water and wastewater solutions for over 25 years; the latest recognition is a testament to the benefits enjoyed by customers.

According to Mr Michael Bambridge, Managing Director of CST, the project was interesting as the backwash supernatant disinfection system was not widely used in Australia. A Berson UV disinfection system supplied by CST Wastewater Solutions was fitted between the pumping station and the rapid mix tank to disinfect the recycled water from the sludge lagoons before returning it to the rapid mix tank.

The system fully disinfects up to a flow rate of 60 L/s and has a variable power control to enable the UV dosage to be adjusted to suit operating conditions.

CST is a member of the Global Water and Energy Alliance, a group of select companies around the world committed to providing solutions in water and wastewater treatment for the recovery of green energy and water.

The supernatant recycling project at Bathurst Regional Council was partially funded by the Australian Government’s Water for the Future initiative through the National Water Security for Cities and Towns program.
