CSR Gyprock has released a new formulation of its Gyprock Wet Area Base Coat. Specifically designed for wet areas, its application ensures compliance with BCA requirements that wall joints in wet areas “be reinforced with tape set in water resistant taping compound.”

The new base coat forms part of a complete wet area system when either Gyprock Aquachek plasterboard or CSR Fibre Cement Wallboard is used. The compound exceeds BCA requirements and the recent formulation makes it even easier to apply.

Pre-mixed and ready to use, the Gyprock Wet Area Base Coat is fast drying with an easy trowel-on application. It is suitable for all wet area lining applications, including bathrooms, kitchens and laundries, as well as carport ceilings and some eave lining applications when CSR Fibre Cement linings are used.

When combined with Gyprock plasterboard or CSR Fibre Cement the Wet Area Base Coat creates a strong barrier against water penetration, ensuring water tightness. It is also said to offer superior adhesion and resistance to mould and fungus attack.
