CSR Gyprock has launched a revolutionary new plasterboard product designed to create healthier environments in homes.
A first for the Australian residential market, the new Gyprock Sensitive is a 10mm hypoallergenic plasterboard that offers enhanced mould resistance and improved moisture resistance. An estimated 2.3 million Australians are currently living with asthma with one in three suffering allergies. Mould is one of the most common triggers for asthma and allergies.
Additionally, increased steam and humidity create the perfect conditions for mould and mildew growth, especially in wet areas of the home such as the bathroom and laundry.
A recent Gyprock study revealed that 35% of Australian households surveyed have experienced mould, with the bedroom being the second most affected room in the house after the bathroom. Gyprock explains that modern homes are built using engineered materials to make them more energy efficient. However, these building concepts can also result in lower ventilation and increased indoor air pollutants, making the modern home a potential incubator for common allergy triggers.
Gyprock Sensitive will be a welcome addition to any renovated property or new build, and offers a superior choice for walls and ceilings throughout the home.
The mould resistance comes from a powerful but gentle antifungal agent throughout the plasterboard’s core, which penetrates the paper and subsequent decorative coating. The plasterboard core also contains a unique wax emulsion, which makes it resistant to moisture.
Gyprock Sensitive is the first and only residential plasterboard to be approved by the National Asthma Council Australia’s Sensitive Choice program as a better solution for asthma and allergy sufferers.
Gyprock Sensitive also has low VOC content and comes with Good Environmental Choice Australia (GECA) accreditation.
Gyprock EC08 Complete for commercial projects is also a Sensitive Choice approved product.
