Australians looking to build a new home or renovate an existing building can apply for the $25,000 grants announced recently by the Federal Government. Eligible Australians will receive a $25,000 grant to build or substantially renovate their homes under the HomeBuilder Program.

The grant can also be used to carry out a number of improvements to your home including enhancing its security by installing Crimsafe security screens on doors and windows when incorporated as part of a new home build or renovations contract.

Crimsafe Security Systems has an extensive range of products that can be installed to create or extend living areas that are practical and secure, ultimately adding value to the home.

For instance, Crimsafe bi-fold doors added to the rear entrance of the home will bring the outdoors in without compromising the view. A secured patio enclosure is also an attractive and cost-effective way of extending your living area for the perfect indoor-outdoor space.

The wide range of Crimsafe security screens combines smooth lines, a high-end quality finish and great aesthetics to complement any architectural finish.

“When spending significantly to build or renovate your home, it is a sensible and worthwhile investment to have Crimsafe added to your doors and windows as a way of protecting your home and family for years to come,” says Crimsafe CEO Jim Sturgess.

The $688 million HomeBuilder Program was introduced by the Federal Government to stimulate the residential construction sector in Australia and keep builders employed following the economic downturn caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison said, “If you’ve been putting off that renovation or new build, the extra $25,000 we’re putting on the table, along with record-low interest rates, means now’s the time to get started.”

The program, which aims to build 30,000 homes by Christmas, is available to eligible applicants who must meet income, budget and home value criteria. The grants are restricted to substantial renovations with a minimum spend of $150,000 or the construction of new homes worth less than the national price cap of $750,000. For renovation projects, the property needs to be valued at less than the national price cap of $1.5 million.

Annual income has also been capped at $125,000 for individual applicants and $200,000 for couples to access the scheme. In addition to several other eligibility criteria, any new construction or renovation must improve the liveability, accessibility or safety of your home.

The program will work along with existing state and territory first-home owner grants programs, stamp duty concessions and other grant schemes, including the Federal Government’s first-home loan deposit scheme and first-home super saver scheme.

Applications are open until the end of the year. Please visit HomeBuilder Program for more information.
