Alan Cubbon of Crosier Scott Architects relied on Corian from CASF Australia to create the reception desk in the foyer of the BCM Construction building. The brief from the client sought the interiors to be designed so as to reflect the company’s construction abilities by exemplifying capability, craft and professionalism.

Crosier Scott Architects designed the building to house an office as well as a warehouse, carefully negotiating the client’s aspirations while ensuring they created a refined architecture. The architects sought materials that were flexible in form and practical in use.

Corian was found to be the most suitable material for this project because of its seamless design-ability and opportunity to create the desired sculptured form. The reception desk resembles a ‘piece of furniture’ and complements the design pattern language to unify the project both inside and out, paying tribute to the external façade.

The Corian colour used in the BCM office project was Designer White with joinery executed by Cutting Edge Joinery.

Alan Cubbon, Director, Crosier Scott Architects:

“The word ‘statement’ was at the forefront of our minds when designing the foyer to impress visitors. The Corian joinery elements including the front counter achieves just that, with a 3.5m long reception bench with the same angular striations that appear in the building’s façade.”
