Fall protection specialist 3M announces the latest version of their DBI-SALA Sealed-Blok range of Self Retracting Lifelines (SRLs) designed to lower cost of ownership and maximise worksite versatility in harsh environments.
The new DBI-SALA Sealed-Blok range of self retracting lifelines includes FAST-Line field replaceable lifelines on most models, an integral carry handle doubling as a secondary fall arrest rated anchorage point, an RSQ dual-mode rescue operation model, and retrieval winch models.
The FAST-Line field replaceable lifeline allows end-users to replace the lifeline in the field rather than having to send it to an authorised service centre, reducing equipment downtime and lowering the cost of ownership. Safety is also ensured with the unique lifeline design not allowing the SRL to operate if the cable is installed incorrectly, providing users the assurance that it has been assembled correctly.
Key features and advantages of the Sealed-Blok self retracting lifelines include retrieval winch models available for raising and lowering personnel or materials; quick conversion to and from retrieval mode for fast and efficient operation; input crank handle featuring a primary brake to prevent movement of the load upon release of the handle; and optional bracket simplifying attachment of the SRL to tripods and davits.
The Sealed-Blok RSQ model allows the user to choose between automatic rescue and fall arrest modes prior to use. In the event of a fall while the device is in automatic rescue mode, the SRL will arrest the fall and then automatically lower the worker safely to the ground or the next level. In fall arrest mode, the SRL will arrest the fall and allow for an assisted rescue to take place. This two-in-one operation offers worksite versatility and optimisation for each fall hazard.
Rick Millar, Technical Manager for 3M Australia & New Zealand comments that the sealed self-retracting lifeline, first introduced by 3M, has been field-proven over the years, operating safely at some of the world’s most challenging worksites. He adds that the next-generation Sealed-Blok improves upon the original design, adding features that increase versatility and lower cost of ownership.
Sealed-Blok self retracting lifelines is integrated with DBI-SALA’s i-Safe intelligent safety system utilising RFID technology to track inspections, control inventory and manage information.
