Leading Australian LED lighting company Brilliant Lighting predicts that Scandinavian design will be a popular trend in interiors and lighting in 2015.

Brilliant Lighting’s new range of on-trend decorative pendants is inspired by the simplicity of Nordic design, features a pared back Japanese aesthetic and is very affordable. Available exclusively through Bunnings Australia, the new pendants offer the simple styling of Scandi design.

Interior designer and trend forecaster Bree Leech explains that the Scandi look can be easily created at home using a few key features.

The Scandi look is epitomised by materials such as paper, pale unfinished timber and matt black metal, using simple, limited palettes, often in neutral, charcoal, black and white with a pop of colour in detail, such as a lamp cord. Modern twists use pastels such as on-trend pink.

According to Ms Leech, the Scandi look can be complemented using simple, contemporary designs from the Brilliant Lighting range. She suggests simple large industrial pendants or timber balanced-arm lamp bases with black or white shades, or options such as single colour or timber finish graphic geometric designs that feature shards, facets, cubes or polygons.

The 25-year-old Brilliant Lighting is acknowledged as an innovator in domestic lighting, and is one of the largest and most respected names in the Australian lighting industry with a range of more than 1500 products. The annual forecast is made by the company’s designers after studying trends around the world, including product and design innovation, colour and finish.

Brilliant Lighting Interior Product Manager, Jacqueline Hughes says the Gian floor lamp with its timber tripod base featuring white painted detail, makes a soft, fresh addition to a Scandi-inspired room. The big, bold, industrial style Hugo pendant has a soft chalky finish, which is perfect for a kitchen or dining room, while the Matrix adds a modern twist with its strong geometric design.

Ms Hughes adds that the Pix range has table and floor lamp options in an angle-poise style with timber arm and exposed fabric cord.

All Brilliant Lighting products come with a 12-month warranty and use the latest LED technology. LEDs last up to 25,000 hours and deliver power savings of up to 80 per cent compared to incandescent globes, saving households an enormous amount of money in the short and long term.
