The new Breezway head office at Coorparoo, built adjacent to their factory in Brisbane showcases the Altair range of louvre windows in the building design.

The project brief for HPC Urban Design & Planning (HPC), who were appointed as the Architects, Town Planners and Project Managers for the construction of Breezway’s new head office, required a showcase of Altair louvre window products, particularly the Altair Powerlouvre window system to be incorporated into a sustainable commercial building design.

HPC collaborated with Greenleaf Engineers, Environmentally Sustainable Development (ESD) and Energy Consultants to design and construct the building to reduce energy consumption by almost 35% at a cost of less than 5% of total building costs.

Energy consumption from air conditioners and artificial lighting was significantly reduced with Greenleaf Engineers applying environmental and thermal modelling technology to maximise the performance of the manual and automated Altair louvre windows to help provide natural light and ventilation into the building for extensive periods of the year.

The Altair louvres were also combined with upper level mezzanine floors to provide building occupants with a spatial experience and unrestricted access to light and fresh air.

Cosmetic improvements were also made to the 1947-built factory to further improve its appearance.
