Lakeside at Pakenham, a new residential development in Victoria that features homes and extensive community facilities built around a 6.5 hectare lake, makes use of steel to provide a consistent look throughout the the 222 hectare site, reinforcing the community feeling the developers are seeking to generate.

Colorbond steel from BHP Steel in the colour Summershade have been used throughout while almost half of the homes feature steel roofing also made from Colorbond. Lakeside at Pakenham marketing services manager Jason Greenhalgh says the high percentage of homes built with Colorbond was the homeowners’ choice. “In the 18 months since construction began, 150 homes have already been built and more than 100 others are now under construction,” he notes. “More than half the homeowners have selected roofing made from Colorbond steel for their homes.’

Greenhalgh says developers Delfin Lend Lease specified fences made from Colorbond steel because they were easier to install and more affordable than fences made from alternative materials. They are also easier to install.
