BlueScope Steel  now offers architects and designers the latest product 3D rendering software files to use in Google SketchUp 3D models.

Included in this package are renders for roofing and walling products manufactured from ZINCALUME and COLORBOND steel, all of which can be downloaded from BlueScope’s own specifier website (, and imported into Google SketchUp with ease.

SteelSelect is a resource website for specifiers, designed to provide information on BlueScope Steel and rollformer products such as specifications, brochures, colour charts, calculators and CAD program files and links.

These BlueScope Steel render files are available for both flat and profiled sections. For profiled sections, each product is scaled appropriately to represent nominal product dimensions. Colours are represented as accurately as possible.

In addition to ZINCALUME steel, the package includes the 27 COLORBOND steel colours for roofing and walling applications. These include the COLORBOND steel standard range, COLORBOND Metallic steel range, as well as the recently released COLORBOND Coolmax steel in the colour Whitehaven.

Additional 3D rendering software is also available for specific roofing and walling profiles from individual rollformers including Lysaght, Stramit, Fielders and Steeline.

Richard Michael, from SteelSelect, said: “As a leading supplier in the Australian building industry, we are pleased to be able to provide product specific content to architects and building designers that is tailor made for emerging tools and technologies."

“Architects and designers can now use these free of charge in their Google SketchUp 3D designs and drawings, to improve the efficiency at the important design stage when specifying steel products,” Michael added.
