A double-glazed operable wall from Bildspec was specified for the Northern Beaches Secondary College Manly Campus to acoustically separate the Learning Centre from the main library.

The Manly Campus library is a multipurpose space for private study, classes, debating, chess, meetings, group discussions, computer and printing use, borrowing of books and resources. The Learning Centre within the library has over 30 computers for classes plus photography and filming facilities.

The specification from NSW Department of Education and Early Childhood Learning sought the library to be soundproofed, with the scope including the procurement and installation of metal framed glass operable folding doors.

A centre stacking glass operable wall incorporating a full-height pass door with a lever handle was installed in the library. The folding door is double-glazed and available in 100mm profile. It consists of top-supported, manually operated panels that can be linked together to form a sound attenuating barrier.

Bildspec acoustic walls play an important role in providing an improved acoustic space to help create innovative, high-quality learning environments for students. These learning environments offer flexible and adaptable spaces where teachers/lecturers can provide opportunities for student engagement.
